６月18〜23日までの６日間、ネットエイジア株式会社協力のもと、同社が18歳以上の“イヌメン”1000名に実施したインターネット調査の結果によると、まず、愛犬を飼いはじめたきっかけについて、「自分自身が犬が好きだから」が、２位の「彼女／奥さんに影響されて」を大きく引き離し、53.1％でもっとも多く、年代が若くなるほどその傾向が強いことがわかった。
また、「愛犬がきっかけで恋人や友人など、新しい出会いが生まれたことがある」と回答したイヌメンが全体の３割を超え、なかでもトイ・プードルのオーナーは「ある」と回答した人が41.8％と、他犬種のオーナーに比べて多かった。
さらに、未婚イヌメンを対象にした「もし彼女が極度の犬嫌いなら？」の問いでは、８割が「愛犬を好きになってもらうよう努力し続ける」と回答。次いで多かったのは、10.4％の「彼女と別れる」だった。
